It is nourishing and tasty, has a long, wide stem, meaty texture and silky smoothness, distinguishing it from any other mushroom.

Some believe the King Oyster originates in the Far East, but mavens know it as a Middle Eastern native that grows on the roots of a common local weed (Eryngium Campestre) in Israel and generally on the roots of plants in the carrot family. It can be sliced lengthwise, across the stem or at an angle.
